Back In Iraq- Chapter 4

Posted On 7:39 PM 24 March 2004
June 30th- Days before Iraqi Deadline
Instead of stopping at individual towns, we were driving strait through, our reinforcements and backup would clear any other resistance, Mortar rained from the sky, knocking several men to the ground, Radio transmissions were coming in saying that the second biggest town I Iraq has fallen, British troops have successfully captured the city.
We rushed through the desert like mad men, artillery flying over us and hitting backup units, we were closing in on Baghdad and it was going to be a hard battle, all enemy tanks were pulling out of other towns and citys to go to Baghdad for the final fight. We couldnt get an air strike onto the city because it was so guarded we AA guns.
We now stopped to hold onto the land we worked so hard for. We stayed there for a week or so, Aircraft loosened up Baghdads defenses, and satellite images showed huge amounts of enemy tanks in and around Baghdad, they were along highway 8 even on the airfields, they were everywhere.
It is now July 1st the dead line is here, nothing happened it must have been all a lie to scare American forces. We moved with thirty miles of Baghdad, we called in artillery to help us out, within two hours; mobile patriot missile systems and MLRs were right beside us, Fire! the general yelled artillery would be raining on Baghdad soon enough.
We couldnt help that there would be civilian casualties, but you must do what you must do.
At five AM radio transmissions said Germany, France, and Britain all were hit by SCUDS, the news was told to everyone. The president even thought of using a tactical nuclear bomb to weaken Baghdad but it couldnt be done, instead our forces were to be going strait into the city in the morning.
